Marching to the tune of Disney!

After 8 months of anticipating, fundraising & coordinating schedules, the day finally came. So did hail just prior to the 5 busses departing the school that day. Fortunately, the weather cleared & we flew out without a hitch. Day 1 started with Jon auditioning & getting a show time on the American Idol experience. We rounded up Eric & his gang to cheer him on. We also learned how to draw Mike from Monsters, ate at the Sci Fi dine in restaurant & went to Fantasmic. Great day & fun night at Hollywood Studios.

Otherwise known as Track & Field Day...

The sixth grades venture to the stadium to compete in their version of the Olympics. This year, it got postponed one day so I was there to see it instead of Plan A with Jon. Jess chose three events. Well knowing I still need to conquer our Disney adventure, I must still skip over that large effort to a smaller accomplishment for now with this post. It was a beautiful day, I had pretty good timing & am very proud of his admirable perspective & efforts. It was not easy but he gave his all.

Bigtime School Spirit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5Ki36KOQA4

This still shot allows you to see Eric's part and contribution....pretty neat stuff! Got some national attention :)

Gravy Boat

Just came across this on Jesse's computer (from Feb 2014) which gave us all a little chuckle :)

Family gathering

This was just after St. John's Lutheran church's Sunrise Service in Belleville, Pa.
This is a bit clearer as the version with the comparison of Eric's height from last year had not been transferred so was somewhat fuzzy viewed on a computer rather than phone. Regardless, the height difference is undeniable!

Never too old for an Easter hunt

There were new twists & technology introduced this year...rules were enforced & only one little blue egg went MIA.

Visiting, relaxing & keeping busy...all happening this weekend along with some beautiful & enoyable weather

Long time, no...

...sunny weather, zoo time, cousin visitors, but we had it all in a beautiful, warm, fun day together. Living treasures :)

I just can't wait to go back!!!

So many treasured memories ...
& we are so ready for the fun to begin again! Very proud of the hard work Eric is putting into marching band & choir to make their own footprint of magical music there too.

End of the Elementary Era

I had the privilege to play with my son at his last sixth grade concert. The last number was Some Nights by Fun. They sounded terrific & it went well.

For the love of music

Band O Rama included Eric performing in Wind Symphony and Marching Band.
Then, we witnessed his choral debut in a Disney themed concert. Our neighbor was the featured beat box for Trashin the Camp. They also sounded wonderful singing Can You Feel the Love, one of my very favorites from Lion King.

Just hanging out

That is usually quite fun with these fellas too. They act like koala bears holding on.The lower right corner was while Jess was recovering from a bad stomach bug. I didn't take the picture because he was sick, but was so relieved to see him finally sleep after many rough hours. He looked so peaceful. Next to that is my perspective of the city now. That's the Allegheny River & 6th Street Bridge so you could say it's a room with a view.

Airport Arrival

Jesse was very anxious to see Grammy. It took longer as they had to go through customs & additional security because of international travel. Eric picked Jesse up to put him on the wall as seen in the one picture. It was like Humpty Dumpty sitting high while Eric just scooted back up with his long legs.
The dogs were not alowwed to go to the airport with us, however they were very excited to see them also. It's always an adventure!

My heart goes on...

These are my sweetest treats of all & I can't get enough of them. Jon is still surprising me with romance & song. Eric is preparing for the next & final round of braces with some initial (mugshot looking) assessment pictures. Jess shows off his crazy sugar obsession after his valentine exchange/elementary school party and the devoted doggies are always there with their daily renewed enthusiasm. Who could as for anything more?

Waste line management

Eliminating the top two rows in this picture sure could help improve the WAIST line management around our house.
Let's hope for warmer weather so we're not inside as much to make so much good comfort food. We'll need to use more energy to get rid of all the extra/added calories. It's doubtful that the yummy food will go away, so we'll have to plan to work harder to work it off:)

Sunday Strollin'

We went to see the Lasers of Oz show and Mysteries of the Unknown IMAX movie.
We made a day of it hanging out while Eric completed his volunteer shift. Even for as many times that we've been there, we can always find something to check out. It was pretty neat seeing brochures on display at the main counter with their pictures also. I'm amongst the famous!

Our Dinner Party

Jon & I made food for a dinner party together.
He made the hot dishes while I put together the cold stuff. We met in the middle with serving friends lots of yummy food and treats. Afterwards, we played some board games including Fact or Crap, Telestrations & the Logo Game. It was a fun night with good company accompanied by many laughs.

More Sweet Fun Together

We also celebrated Grandpa's birthday with yummy sweet treats.
Breakfast worked well in shifts as the adults had the first round (with coffee) and then the kids joined in after sleeping in. They never need a coffee boost.

Molding Metal

We recently got to see a show that Jon spent a lot of time learning and training for.
Enduring a lot of heat, he carefully molds and 'reproduces' a shape in aluminum, describing all of the steps that must be done along the way.

Eric's Second Winter Musical

Eric did a terrific job as a Winkie Soldier after spending many hours after school practice for the last three months.
The play moved at a fairly good clip and we enjoyed it over and over again. His friends from SHOE were very amusing as the scarecrow and lion too.

Return of the Retreat

Rested, yet productive. It was a nice getaway & appreciated time off from usual role & responsibilities.
The ride home was a little messy, but made it through. Glad that I was able to do what I wanted (my own craft project & read a whole book), but happy to be home again.

High achievers, great accomplishment & very proud parents!

Less Chaos...More Home Together Time

Not as much bustle staying home, but more needed cleanup taking place. We can now walk into at least half of our walk in closet, switched around our bedroom, revamped the worst cupboard ever & cleaned up our half bathroom so considerable work effort/progress (& many sneezes & sniffles stirring up the dust). We all went & got haircuts today too. We did some shopping, the boys learned how to play Stratego & they played many rounds of that. We saw the new Jack Ryan movie yesterday too...intense action & good time by all.

January in full effect

So, I'm going to try this out to see if I can do a better job posting this year.  As you might be able to see, we've got a lot going on these days. The Tweeners went ice skating up at North Park (yes, I was on skates taking pictures...I know, daring but no falling for me). The boys switched their indoor junkyards, I mean, rooms....they almost qualify as them now. Eric started Pep Band season (playing for the Varsity boys basketball team) with an awesome game that they won in overtime. Jesse is appearing in a brochure for the Sci Center & is very pumped up this evening with his big Puzzle-lympics win. He spent the day working his brain out in overdrive at the Jr. High competing against other GATE students in the district & came home with TWO big wins. We are glad to have Monday off too as they have reached the half way point of the school year too. Exciting news!

The Deep Freeze

Never have we seen such negativity...in temperatures...as we have today.  Very very very cold outside and everyone is keeping warm staying inside...no school for the boys and a delay tomorrow.  Jon provided door to door transportation for me so off to work I went today.

Starting out 2014 with "big moves"

It may not sound significant comparatively, however switching the boys rooms has been no easy task.  Jesse "gave" this gift to his brother for Christmas this year and it seems like we have been trying to dig out ever since.  I'm not sure why items, large and small, keep appearing and cluttering up our room, but guess that counts as "moving" too.  Not fun, not easy but definitely can tell the difference in them getting to have a 'new start.'  I did think it was kind of cute that Eric wanted to stay in his "old room" last night one last time for old time's sake.  Jesse, on the other hand, slept in the basement as his bunk beds are currently the Titanic of too much stuff.  Anyway, I did not find it fun going back and fixing links to pictures from the year end wrap up.  I'm not sure yet what we're going to do differently but I'm hoping to not just throw pictures up when I can get to it.  We'll see if the new approach works...no promises, but worth a try.

This week is going to start with a big chill.  Very low temps are expected as the 'normal routine' kicks in...Winter Musical practice, hockey, piano & trombone lessons, Pep Band and that's just the kids' schedules. We'll try to keep up...it's not easy being green but then again, I guess we aren't anymore...haha :)
