SAND-SWIM-SUN-SLEEP

...& of course EAT, we had to do that as well (but it doesn't start with S!). We have returned (although much of our luggage didn't arrive until Sun. afternoon) from our week of vacation at/on/around/in Daytona Beach. We did not do much else besides soak up the rays and hang out on the beach for the whole week. The only day that was a bit cloudy and rainy was Tuesday (but I guess that's why they have 2 indoor pools!) and Jon had gone to the other beach (Clearwater) on that day for a conference.

We left Saturday morning and were "split up" on the plane. Jesse and I could see Jon and Grandma Gen rows ahead of us but Eric & Grammy were way up front as we flew south. My Mom's suitcase got lost (gold ribbon is a special code for Disney to some apparently), but by the time we got the nice, new minivan we borrowed and ate at Fridays, we were able to go back to the airport to get it. That travel day was long but our vacation had begun.

Grandma Gen, Aunt Teri, Grammy & I went out to dinner (and Margaritas) for Mother's Day. Meanwhile, the boys planned a party with pink and purple streamers and Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream Cake....very yummy dessert. Later, we started "the Game of Life" but quit and just continued on without the need for the game.

I got up early most mornings and went for a stroll along the beach watching the beautiful sunrise (with Starbucks in hand). Noone else usually arose early enough to go with me so I took pictures and video to share the view.

We went across the street to Daytona Lagoon and rode on a three level go-cart track. The Eric & Mommy team beat out Daddy & Jess who unfairly bumped us a couple of times but we pulled it out in the end.

The Lazy River at the resort was a favorite for Jess as was chasing birds and burying himself at least up to his waist once a day. Eric preferred catching fish (by net) and sand crabs, playing with bugs and digging holes, ditches, and lakes.

We also did several crafts through the week including BooBoo Bunnies, beaded geckos, bear buddies (Eric the Elephant and Doggy Ruffy the Dalmation), painted starfish and sand dollars and also made homemade suncatchers. We also played mini golf a couple of times as there was an indoor course there too. We rode on the skyride that went out over the pier and Grammy treated the boys to an evening at the arcade and winning it big in prize points while Jon and I had a nice dinner out at the Inlet Harbor.

Friday, we went to see Over the Hedge which was cute. Hammy, the squirrel, was the favorite character in the movie (and the theater was next door). We closed out the week at Deleon Springs where we made our own pancakes at our table on a grill which Grandma Gen had told us about. This was near where Aunt Teri had been living and inside a FL State Park. It was fun and they were yummy.

Saturday ended our week with a long journey home. We had a quick connecting flight in Atlanta that we barely made ourselves and unfortunately our luggage did not make it in time. The boys are happy to be home again and see Tucker. Today felt VERY COLD but at least the sun started shining so maybe some of the gorgeous weather followed us back!?! Hope so!!!
