6th Grade Band Tour, Jazz & Concert Feature

It was a very busy, but MUSICAL week with lots of great songs & rhythm. Lasses Trombone was quite a feature &
great sounding. Eric wasn't on the riser so looks much smaller than he really is (funny).

From marching to running

Just one week after we got back from vacation, Jon was off on the longest run he has ever done. The weather was perfect although th traffic was bad but he & 30,000 of his friends successfully ran through the downtown streets. We caught him twice on the North Shore & then near the finish line. He had a great time (for running & otherwise)!
We saw several familiar & friendly faces pass through (or thru found is) and are amazed by their determination & dedication. Way to go!

The Resort Stay

Other than demagnetizing out room key at least 5 times, I would be remiss if I didn't mention this wonderful venue we were fortunate to stay at. We stayed in the Presidential Reserve with access to a special suite in the tower to view the Epcot fireworks. Our room had a great view of the lake & pirate ship & pools. Ping Pong was close by and this was so nice too.

The Wild Side

Animal Kingdom is like a large terrain zoo festival with lots of ground to cover, many animals to see & a dinosaur area for even greater stretches of the imagination.

Just before we caught our busses from Downtown Disney to get us to this park, we met up with big boy for a little visit. It did seem like separate vacations & having an only child much of the time. We were glad to reunite with him for a little bit & see his vacation activities too. He bought a Stitch stuffed animal as  souvenir & we heard about his custom double purple light saber from Hollywood Studios (Jesse made a custom droid). Fun stuff!

Singing at Epcot

The venue for this was very different as they were in a small concert setting within the park. It was standing room only and the band members came to watch & cheer them on. Again, the choirs were wonderful and sang several Disney tunes. My favorite was Jai Ho (from Slum Dog Millionairre sang in Hindu & Spanish) and Man In the Mirror. It was also the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot during our visit. The whole area had a multitude of themed and well maintained Topiaries  that were so beautiful and interesting. Another enlightening day filled with Disney delight.

Main Street Debut

Magic Kingdom on Thursday was the big event day for the band. After many hours of fun riding (even not moving on the People Mover & having the Country Bears show canceled for malfunctioning), we strategically chose a couple points along the parade route to try & capture good angles for viewing. They were the 3rd & largest band to lead off the electric parade. We heard many compliments, tons of cheers & they were fantastic. It and they went by so quick but I would not trade that moment for anything...it was amazing & very proud of who they are and what they do.
