The Overnighter

What a weekend for a campout! Being locked out and having trouble finding someone to let us into our cabin in the POURING DOWN RAIN, losing power for several hours, all 25+ scouts and their parents sleeping on cots in one big open room...but fun was still had! Racing boats down a waterfall after a hike, doing some crafts and balloon activities and playing the ever-popular Octopus game and ending the night with a team scavenger hunt and of course, s'mores for all.

Upon our return, we decided to eat out at our favorite Japanese place that Sunday afternoon. Jesse always likes that they cook in front of us and they get sticks to play with (although they technically are eating utensils). Eric enjoyed the steak so much he told Grammy "I love Flaming Yawn!" in his phone conversation.

A Festive Fall Day

Eric, Jesse and I took a roadtrip to take advantage of their extra long weekend. Jon and the pups stayed back this time. It was a straight highway trip for over 250 miles. At one point, they exclaimed that it "smelled like we were going to Grandma and Grandpas" along the way too. Upon arrival, we enjoyed a swim in the hotel pool. Jesse asked why they gave us a surfboard in our room, not being familiar with an ironing board. Eric thought that they gave Jesse a magic potion for breakfast when they served milk in a bulbed carafe.

Saturday morning we made our way to the Fall Fest at my friend's place of business. It was a gorgeous day and they had lots of fun. They were so busy, I barely got to see and talk to my friends but we still enjoyed our time there taking in the many things they made available for a fun day for the kids.

After that, we went to see a movie and for a walk through Valley Forge park before heading back for more hotel swimtime. The next day we went to the PA Rennaisance Festival which is near the Reading area. This was the Pyrate Invasion weekend so they enjoyed the unique atmosphere and many sights and shows they had there throughout another day of spectacular weather. That night we drove to Harrisburg and yes, swam in another pool. Our final stop before heading home was Chocolate World in Hershey, PA. We got our fill of sweet treats there and then headed for home.

The pups were happy to have us home (I think Daddy was also) and it was good to be back and all reunited again. Hopefully next time our trip will include us all!
