A Hearty Family
Happy Valentines Day....extend the love to the weekend if not longer :) We had a surprise Mystery Dinner that Jon prepared for us. It was a fun evening filled with challenges that accompanied our 3 course dinner of choices. Last night we went out to dinner and for ice cream. Jesse has now "crossed the barrier" as he used to get a free cone at Brewsters but NOT ANYMORE...GUESS WHO GREW??!! When I mentioned this, he said to me "Well, Mom...things change you know." Oh yes, they do!

Sleepover Plans
Now, our family is certainly not the most conservative of sorts. However, when the subject of being allowed to have a friend or two stay over, unfortunately some miscommunication ensued. After agreeing that this would be acceptable to do some time, probably over the weekend or in the summer and telling them that they could make plans as always and as parents we eventually learn more. As I drove Eric home last night, we got into more specific details of when his girlfriend could stay over. Hmmmm.....that's a fun one to explain. I tell Jon and he says "Yes, Jesse wants his girl friend to sleep over too." I advised that he better explain that this will not be possible (hopefully before the girls discuss this kind of invite with their parents!?!) and this would not be known as the Crownover's House of Love!?! Yikes :) I instead suggested an alternative double or triple date with us (first?!) if that is the route they'd like to go. I know they're growing up fast, but COME ON!!!

Trippin'
It seems we may be taking the Break before Spring this year....well, at least Jon and I. Apparently, I am due for this also as Jesse wrote a post-it out that said "Don't make mad or sad" which we agreed I needed to wear at work. I did take it to work with me a reminder as things had been becoming a bit rocky but now headed toward smoother sailing which I am (as well as others are) quite happy about now.
Anyway, it seems we missed picture updates for January so I have gone back to pull a few over to share now. First we have "the Band" brothers and then the Derby cars for the annual race. We all enjoyed babysitting a little friend and also enjoyed another little guy celebrate his 3rd birthday with a baseball party. It was at a cool place that had an indoor baseball diamond so they go to play lots of (different kinds of) ball.
That's most of the highlights of our happenings for now and hopefully we'll report more again sometime soon.

VEGAS BOUND??!!
Tonight Jesse and I started playing a (card) game of War. We found that it became very boring in a hurry so I decided to switch things up and proposed a "higher level" math game. I explained how to play Blackjack and the gears started grinding in that amazing mind he has. A response of "Hit me!" once he evaluated his card value was based on good judgement and he won the majority of the many hands we played. He's definitely a gamble worth taking. However, he still won't be going on our long weekend getaway next month. I think it's a safe bet that with our luck we won't gamble much away there anyway. Know that Jesse has a new favorite card game now though so the next time you see him, bring your chips (Pringles will work)!

End-of-Year Crammin'
So, there was more of December to share with you so here are some out of order shots captured...not on film, but digitally. The boys took free ice skating lessons at North Park. All were very determined and improved each week in their own separate groups. Impressive!
Traveling north we entered the real "snow zone". The boys were excited to slide, build and throw snow. In fact, the head of the pictured snowman was actually thrown AT ME! For obvious reasons, I couldn't capture that "Kodak moment." Then, we attended my nephew's birthday party which was filled with lots of inflatable, jumpin' fun had by all.
On Christmas Eve, there was a birthday party for baby Jesus in between our church services. This was a nice way to prepare for the big day filled with lots of giving and pleasant surprises - us not getting or being sick being one of those gifts we haven't had for a couple of years now.
The next day, we met up with some friends that had moved to WV/VA six months ago. It was nice to see them all and catch up again. Hopefully we'll get to take a roadtrip down to and see their new home in the coming months.
Anyway, that's the scoop as we end 2007. Some bug ended up catching Jesse but he's doing better and so far so good for the rest of us. We've planned a low key celebration here at home tonight. Eric made a trip to ToysRUs to spend some of his gift cards and purchased a bundle of Yu Gi Oh cards which he kindly shared with his brother. Going through and playing with these keeps them cooperative and quiet which makes for a good evening for all! Best wishes for a HAPPY NEW 2008!!!
