Crownovers on Safari

Tuesday was probably the highlight of our trip...other than living on a yacht for the week :) We started our morning with an Adventure Caravan tour. This included a wise tour guide, driver, two couples and our family of four. We set off behind the scenes.... or more like IN the scenes of the African plains. We saw so many animals up close in natural, spacious habitats. What an amazing journey...it seemed surreal. As if feeding giraffes was not an experience of a lifetime, especially because we all got to individually feed them many leaves, but then also had group picture time also. Further down the road, they coaxed a rhino to get up and leave what looked like a comfortable nap hangout with a female and younger male rhino. He slowly got up and came over to be fed apple slices from each of us. The guide described this snack to be like raisins to them considering that he weighed about 4,500 lbs. and stood six foot tall at the shoulder. It really seemed like a dinosaur encounter. He was docile and did not mind us touching his horn, his mouth, lips or tongue. I think we were all in disbelief as we drove on through the rest of the wild. I believe this was a day we will treasure for a long time.
